About this course

This module is part of the Teaching & Learning Skils Development course. Each module comprises a short introduction to key skills.  Teachers are challenged to implement these skils over the duration of a month and reflect on their progress toward outstanding provision. 

Requirements

30 Day Challenge

To implement your new learning and support your journey toward becoming a master teacher the following skills, which demonstrate this module’s outcomes, should be practiced over the next 30 days

Where possible, find a colleague who you know is highly skilled in this area.

Shadow them and learn from them. Ask them to support you by observing you put these new skills into action.

 

Explicitly teach metacognitive strategies to your class over the course of 30 days

Use at least 3 metacognitive questions in every lesson

Ensure that every lesson has at least one opportunity for self monitoring for students

Ensure that every lesson has at least one opportunity for peer assessment for students

On written work - utilise each of the 3 types of feedback for every student at least once

Establish a research station in your class

Implement joint / self written objectives with your students

Offer choice of challenge for learning in at least half of your lessons

Facilitate one style of peer tutoring in every lesson

Have a student lead a lesson at least once a week
